He sets off with his cameraman and producer, Azamat Bagatov, to film a documentary in the United States.

During his trip, he meets many different people. Some of the encounters were shot with unknowing performers who believed that Borat was legitimately a visitor from another country who was making a documentary. During a stay in a hotel, Borat sees an episode of Baywatch and falls instantly in love with Pamela Anderson. He changes the course of his visit and decides that he will abandon his documentary to track down and marry Anderson. During his trek, Borat sings the Kazakhstan national anthem at a rodeo. He also participates in a botched television interview and takes driving lessons.

Borat doesn’t fail to offend many different groups, including a feminist group and a United Pentecostal Church group. Borat buys a retired ice cream truck and a grizzly bear before getting into a naked hotel brawl with Azamat.

After Azamat abandons him, he heads off to California to find Pamela Anderson on his own. He encounters more roadblocks, including some drunken fraternity brothers who show him Anderson’s home- made porno movie. In California, he reconnects with Azamat and finds out about an appearance that Pamela Anderson is making at a book store. He realizes that this is his chance to ask her to marry him. This film won Sacha Baron Cohen the Golden Globe Award for “Best Actor: Musical or Comedy.” The film resulted in some lawsuits from some of the cast members and was banned in some countries due to its content.
